Wings, Butterflies, Bees and Flowers

What can I say about this outfit, other than I love this dress-top-tunic-whatever it is, I love it no matter what, it does not matter that on a shorter girl it would probably make a cute dress and on me, well... it is just this unidentified "top" thingy, I make it work with a black slip and I juuuuuuust love: the way it feels, the way it fits, the fabric, the color and those ruffly things on the side, I love them and I love this outfit, yeah I know that I am repeating myself, but excuse me I am not indulging in self-praise, I am just objectively saying I love that piece from H&M spring GARDEN collection and again, salmon color, which yes, I also love, and now it is officially a big hit, BUT note that I wrote about it in February, yeah that is exactly what I am doing my dears - pulling this "haven't I told you so" line on you, but I promise that is it.... also some fashion-savvy birds chirped to me that in English it is actually called "coral"... other people call it peachy, for me it is still a salmon - finely cooked, because I like fish.... :) over and out readers, no more words necessary...

Simple dress = Headache-free morning

The title? I know, I know dear readers... you probably think "oh duh, girl", I know it is a truism and that I have not reveled anything you have not heard a million times already, BUT to defend telling the truism let me tell you another one, that the most useful and helpful tips ought to be recalled and they should be recalled often... all because we tend to forget that simplicity and common knowledge wisdom and over-complicate everything. So my recommendation is: all the ladies out there, get yourselves a couple dresses ready, at arms-length, a couple of ones that make you feel good and fit like a glove for all those mornings, that are dreaded but WILL happen, when you feel like:
  • you have nothing to wear
  • nothing looks good on you, nor you feel good in anything
  • you are out of ideas for outfits, nor have time for making them up.... etc!!!! million other reasons, I know!
than grab that "feel good" dress as your last resort and it can still save the day!... I know , I tested that out and my day turned around, lets say, from crappy to okay-feeling kind of good...

Now a word about the bag, I got it at H&M, never a fan of beach basket bag-looks, this season I decided to give it a try, since the trend is really catching on. I found myself actually, lets say this: love it! It does make every outfit summer-ready, it is definitely a summer-staple that adds a sparkle of sun to my daily stroll to work... I recommend this bag-trend to all tired of black-bags tagging their sad, baggy-selves in the stream of early-raisers on their way to the office.
Finally, a word about the sandals, I got them online and assumed a usual-safest-bet-10 will fit, I said - usual -but not this time... no, you can never tell! sometimes the same company that is a shoemaker too (not just a supplier )(yes, I am talking about you Aldo) will have the sizing way off between different styles of thier own shoes, how annoying is that? so by getting always tens, I have my shoes too small and too big, like a freakin Russian roulette... and that is the story of these sandals, I love the look - yet can not fully enjoy them now as it bother me that they fit a little big on my feet, not to mention that my feet are big already and do not need extra enlarging shoes on them!!! anyhow... enough of that, I have an ease with ranting, especially on this issue - I can go on for at least an hour...

Summery whites - always a summer classic

I am on a roll! everyone, look at me! another post! I am proud of myself, but shouldn't I though? I know, I know I too rather not praise the day... yeah and I guess enough indulgence with self-inflicted praise too... so here it goes, my summery summer outfit, numero uno.
I wore it a few days back, yet it was on and off hot and I took some other pics too, bla bla bla anyhow, it goes live today, because Chicago today is just sizzling hot, so it feels appropriate to look at those pictures and posting, simple look, some white basics, with a nice contrast, throw some beads into the mix and out the door you go all fresh and crispy
.

Blue blues for blue skies

My outfit here is build around fashion "recycling", none of the pieces included here are particularly dear nor precious to me, often times I am not sure how to wear them and when, I bet each one of us has some adored pieced that could be worn all the time, and then some pieces we objectively like, because they are cute and nothing is "really" wrong with them, but they just don't attract our hands to be taken out of the closet, some mysterious feature, isn't it, like there was some reversed magnetism in them. Anyhow, one day, I finally decided to put some of them all together and did not hate the outcome, the recipe was simple, again, blending in a simple basic color with some extravagance in colors and tones. I also like two trends here that I managed to capture, jacket plus a scarf and hair pined up high, I am loving this look, I think it adds a youthful spin into anybody's style, especially a way to go to those older, chic ladies, that look so perfect - one may wonder if they star in a soap opera playing somebody's rich disproving mother, I love seeing their hair pinned up with big&thick scarves around their necks and a lot of chunky jewelry too.. okay this observation is a little weird, I don't want to weird you out, anyhow the second trend is wearing flat, minimalistic sandals with wide capris, you will not shorten your legs dramatically and show a little bit more of your cute feet and maybe possibly - strongly encouraged - cute pedi :) whereas wearing flats with such outfit could cut you short, way short, I would say a couple inches for sure, who would want to look like a midget-legged troll? nobody, nobody I say! and I, proudly admit that I managed not to feel like that :) and for now I am keeping the clothes, I am like a pack rat, can not part with anything, does anybody have any good ideas how to get more excited about clothes that are just not to exciting anymore...?

Golden Accent Mess of a Skirt

Hello dear readers, "long time no see" from your favorite blogger... hahaha yeah right... I know, I know that I had promised more summer pics and outfits before, but please believe me that I lost those promised images, they are no longer present on my memory card, no longer in my camera!!?? who would have thought? yes, yes, lost, lost, gone, done, cant find them, disappeared, something went wrong, blurred, gone! gone! gone! I bet and I bet a ton you all know what I am talking about and wont feel too annoyed with my constant self-explanatory tone, now I just need to plead guilty and move on and need to produce some new ones, and while I am doing so - I decided to use the above, a set found while looking for what was permanently lost, isn't life funny that way? yes it is, of course it is...anyhow, since I really really like this skirt, I still decided to put it up.
I love its richness and festiveness displayed in its royalty-worthy pattern, I love its deep color and I love how overall "weird" it is, all ruffled up and with this funky sash et all..don't you love such clothes, all kind of messed up yet working altogether? I love such pieces, statements, not just clothes, I am weird and twisted yet trying to remain elegant myself, take that world, I announce this to you via a skirt :)
Here, I paired it with a rich -in-ecor stocking, and not just an ordinary one either, it is a stocking with a long history (first of all, stolen them from my mom, second of all, girrrrrls! you wont find such stockings/tights anywhere now, gosh not that old
as these old dogs! I am not sure how old they really ARE, but I remember being like 7 years old and playing dress up with them, so yeah, they are must be like over 20 years... plus, those survived handling by "a crazy little girls impatient little hands and nails", my gosh? who makes something like that now, now you open a new pair, take them out the foil and there is a whole in them already because you touched them the wrong way"...those, geez, must have been made in some crazy quality control special factory or something, back i nthe day people seelling stuff wanted you to hold onto thier product...)
Anyhow, let me know girls, what is your favorite weird/asymmetric piece of clothing, or maybe share a story about a really old piece of clothing that just refuses to "get old"....

Flowers and Shashes

Posted by Picasa

It has been a while since I shared my outfit with the rest of the world, not like I was not dressed all those days, more so, I have been dressed and I have been dressed fine, oh yeah, dear readers, I am always so well put together… but just like every lazy blogger’s, my excuse will be the same: here…wait for it... i just had so much going on, too busy, life is so busy, blablablabla, wheew, whatever, time to move on and pledge I will do better… like them all, lazy bums, hopefully for the better though. I had one more set of pictures, before the premier of spring/like-summer outfits, which I thought is kind of too cute to dispose of, so I am sharing the older set with you, it is a cute ensemble and since summers have been a little cranky recently we never really know how warm it will come to dress this season, especially here in Chicago, so it may be still, at least somewhat relevant, especially since the pattern of the main piece is sooo nice and flowery. Yup flower patterns are taking over, everything from big ornamental flower motives to meadow – like patterns are very much back and staying around, I love it, I love color, but this far one color palettes were dominant, it is good to finally see colors TOGETHER!What I love about this combo is its comfort-level, feels like wearing pajamas (leggings and a loose fitted tunic which you can hide everything under, especially this bloated tummy after bigger than normal lunch or dinner), however, it still meets the casual yet put together look standards of a business casual office, I did, I wore it to work and people loved it. I put on a color coordinated sweater and to make it more me, I sash-ed it with a old ribbon from another shirt I don’t wear anymore, recently I have been a little more creative with what I wear as a belt encouraged with the recent belt-craziness unleashed in all forms, colors and shapes. Anyhow, I have some more outfits brewing on my computer already ready ready, ready to ready, so check back shortly, I will be sharing a couple summery looks

Let Spring be Spring

Dressed in Spring

So, it is time for the following feature straight from my lalalalala imagination land/what my heart desires series via Polyvorewheeew that was a long opening :)>
Spring is here everyone in case you did not notice, supposedly, depending where and when one is located, but generally speaking should be hitting its almost summer-like time, hopefully... it is time to ditch those trenches and show off some body, or wardrobe for the matter... I don't like seeing all those so anxious girls, so anxious and impatient putting on their most cleavage-showing summer dressers and flip flops and all other obviously summer beach-ready ensemble, "what are you going to wear when the weather hits 100F?" , anyhow, spring is spring, lets keep it at that, lets keep it what it is! fresh, light, feminine, etheric... and one can be still springy and a little more heat resistant, just look at the outfit above, so fresh so SPRINGY... it consists of two big hits this spring/summer season and two classic ones:
First, jean is back baby, wear jean fabric from top to bottom and nobody will say a bad word, jean is coming back and i like it, I missed my jean jacket to pair with dresses, because for a while it stopped being as cool as lets say 10 years ago...
Second, oxfords and the rest of the English schoolboy style, big big hit, Chloe, Channel and other big names are sporting this look at their high end photo shoots, but also a lot of main street retailers pushes the trend, so don't delay ladies, get yourselves some oxfords and wear them with skinny pants, harem pants, and all kinds of dresses and skirts! I love the cute girl/boyish clash!
Finally, the spoken classics, white linen, no extra words necessary here... and brown accessories instead of black, no more black purses and belts, those get plenty of use in the winter. I love the big baaag, it is to die for in this brown color, yummy!!!!

Leather time - look who's back agin!

So another thing is back, back from the forgotten days of glamorous-leather-worshiping-80's... you know what I am talking about, don't you? yes, leather pants... and just like with the fur i raved about below, those too, are not real. The second coming of the leather pants is more of "look like leather, feel like leather (not quite but a little ) but are NOT leather itself" rather than actual genuine leather, I mean, who can afford "that"?? I am not sure if this trend is as ecologically/PETA influenced as the fur's is, but who really cares about that reading a fashion blog, so, what was I saying?... oh, of course you can still get real leather pants (no, and I don't mean those from harley davidson's) but those will cost you an arm & a leg and a little finger from the remaining limps, since I am not even close to such spending budget, I decided to snatch me some fakes at a "mainstream" retailer, yes, one of my favs: H&M, but places like For21 or Charlotte Russe had bunches of fakes on hangers during my recent visits, so if one look,s one will find! it was not too hard to notice that those are in, however are recommended for those who are brave enough to pull off the look... I was a little worried that I will look like a wanna-be biker's forgotten and drunk girlfriend, but I think the above pics prove that I did not have to hide all day in the office's bathroom - yes I did wear them to work :) I decided to soften the look with a very airy ballerina top with a very soft pink tone - to which I dedicated two posts already and decided to call it salomon. If one thing can be taken from my mindless talking/writing tonight, it is that, bare with me my readers, that leather pants are cool again!

Bearpaws a la Dynasty on my Back - fur is back!

Posted by Picasa

So... there was a time when I remember myself thinking that fur (and that being real and its fake equivalents) was just ugly, pure gross, nasty, foul, stupid and stinky, I presented a - why would anybody want to wear it? - kind of attitude, even though my mom owned one or two, and all my aunts did too, I remember they did smell, smelled like naphthalene, an interesting chemical thingy used to prevent moths from shredding furs and other wearable goods to pieces in those huge dark wooden closets... oh, dear memories... so what I am saying is that it has been a while since fur was "IN", I think more than a decade... NOW, time for yet another digression: Lets stress that fur was probably last seen by broad audiences on TV while airing episodes of my beloved Dynasty - OMG! does anybody know how to get a DVD or something, it was an epic series in the entire eastern block, Warsaw traffic safety officials noted decreased traffic activity - the country would literally stop and watch! There was one more alike series that my mom made me watch, cant think of the title, it was happening in Texas and for some reason all women, all the time would wear fur jackets, I guess my naive nature prevented me from asking "why would you need a fur coat everywhere you go in freakin TEXAS?" but I never did ask, so it does not matter now, wait, wait, wait, I think the title was "Dallas", have anybody watched it?!!! either way, let me tell you, not as cool nor graoundbreaking as Dynsty, hahahaha....
Anyhow, fur disappeared from the mainstream fashion for a while (except occasional rap... or hip hop videos and some occasional red carpets weirdos' appearances) and I never missed it, but now, this winter/spring season and even a little bit the last one, I started spotting furry things, cripping out everywhere, thus I strated craving one... I mean not real fur, that still seems wrong on many levels, but just something fur-like, fuzzy and warm and cozy and sassy and cute and a little fierce and bitchy, yes, yes dear readers, all this comes with owning a little something-fur-like. So... recently, I became an owner of one furry, fuzzy vest, I love it, it is warm and cute, since it is a vest, as I just said, it can go with many outfits without overpowering any look.
The above pics were taken back in March and it was my fur premiere that is why I paired it safely with a black turtle-neck dress, then I decided I may look a little too conservative so I went crazy with the pink tights... about cool, colorful tights I think I wrote somewhere down below, so I wont stress the importance of owning some cool tights any more.
I only have a couple older, colder spring applicable outfits to come and then I am yet current with almost summer like looks as it warmed up in Chicago recently, almost too good to be true....so maybe those will become relevant again...

Navy & Blues

So I took some pictures way back, back, back in March (it is April, March feels like ancient history)... yes, yes it does. Sooo... now I really need to get back into some serious blogging and use them all before the warmth spills over Chicago for good and such outfits, like the one above, will no longer be relevant in any imaginable way, here in Chicago as soon as it passes 65F people forget about the hell of winter and live like it never existed... till October, sadly, as the mean biatch always comes back.... Anyhow, the centerpiece of above photographed outfit, well, it is the jacket, I dwell on my love affair with jackets in previous posts, so I won't repeat myself twice, I have been eyeballing boyfriend jackets with flip-sleeves for a long time now and I could not wait til I finally get my hands on one or a million.... yes A million, exactly, as this trend hits one of those spots for me (digression: trends come and go like winter in Chicago, some of them I like because "it is in" and appears to be super cool at the moment, but I don't feel any connection to it, it is not "mine", then on the other hand, there are trends that once spotted you can not forget about and you find yourself thinking "I have been looking for something like this my whole life or at least half of it. OR: I waited for this to be finally hip so can be sold in stores, my idea finally materialized! HALLELUJAH! this shopping-hunt-for-something-not-sure-what-exactly feeling that we all shopaholics feel way too often is finally fulfilled...). end of digression. That, that is me with boyfriend jackets, and as of today I believe I have three already, wait for it and you shall see more, as I am planning to use my boyfriend jackets as cover-ups for all those summery tops and dresses that I WILL get to wear soon, although today's Chicago temperatures are not making this thought easy nor obvious. Au revoir soon my dear readers, I promise, soon!

Spring dreams

So what if it rains

The great thing about the virtual world is that it makes imagining things that ARE NOT REAL sinfully easy, yup, it lets us believe we can have it all, all this stuff hidden behind thick glass door, and the virtual world is opening that thick door for us... so I - a magpie(shiny things for your nest kind-of-a-girl) - captured in online shopping captivity - killed some time to satisfy my (having nice stuff) cravings without actually spending the money!
I created a spring-happy-even-if-it-rains set. What do I love about it? Well, first, the ruffle trench, I don't have to introduce the trend, nothing new, heard it, knew it kind of a thing, ruffle trenches "media coverage" is all over the place, the evidence can be also seen in stores... So what's soooo special about this one? well, it is definitely cute, yet it remains within the "classic" look, so even if one sad day ruffles will not be as hip as they are right now (which I hope will never happen), this trench will defend itself, beautiful... and the price, it is beautiful too it is the cheapest item apart from tights(check them out upside down :) Why isn't Newlook in the USA? I demand its USA presence!!!
Second trend is in fact an obsession-classified: I love tassels, and fashion loves tassels, so in this harmonic symbiosis I plan to accessorize with tassels, this spring and summer and you dear readers, be creative, tassels can appear on belts, necklaces, bags, earnings, bracelets, attached to any kind of shirt or jacket...
Don't get me started on Burberry and rain boots... one day Anja I say, one day :)
And for a dessert, let me talk tights, colorful tights are STILL IN - so readers, get on with the hype, and I mean bold-bold colors, crazy-courageous patterns, don't delay, go ahead, wear some colors before the summer hits with its warmth, now is the time to do it, now tights are not meant to be unnoticeable, not any longer, they are coming out of the shade of necessity, now, tights are a fashion accessory, that has an ability to make the entire outfit complete...

Salomon, salmon, a fish would say: color of the kings!

Posted by Picasa

I don' t want to start my newest post with: Didn't I tell you so?... but guess what dear readers, this warm, pastel pink, this pretty subtle shade of creaminess of pink beauty is ALL OVER THE PLACE, EVERYWHERE, OMG, ALL OVER... did you notice? I did and felt somewhat satisfied that I felt the magnetic attraction to it back over the Valentine Day's and now it is officially "a spring is in" color! I felt like a real fashion pro. Anyway, not waiting a minute longer I pulled out this shirt that is like a decade-old and rock it with some white tank top lace and a beige sweater (it is still a little chilly in Chicago, can not go spring-spring quite yet). I think subtle-ness of this color goes well best with colors that are subtle, thus my color choice was beige, whites are recommended, also I have seen good pairings with pastel shades of blue and green too, also as always we have black, it will always work, however, as often I would recommend it primarily for an evening look...
Funny story - may explain this awkward and weird title of my post:
C, the pie-maker I married, brought to my attention that here a color that is salmon is hot pink and that probably refers to uncooked salmon meat that is pretty vivid, almost purple if a fish is a tid bit old - yuk...yuk yuk, we Poles do not think of rare food, especially when we think about color comparisons, thus we refer to a salmon color that is exactly that, this pastel, soft, cream pinkish color that I love above, which resembles a deliciously simmered, juicy and ready to eat chunk of fish! I think in this cultural difference battle, pie-maker has to acknowledge our sophistication. The last thing to reveal today is that I have a silly tendency to confuse salmon and Salomon (the king, right?) when typing, not to mention when talking, as I often times mispronounce both... why they must be so hard to say? a good noble wise king and a tasty fish? I dont know...

Yellow Accents Continued

Yuuup, that is right, I guess there is something to it, as soon as I get a color accent in my head, it sticks with me for at least two outfits, I did not notice it as much, but since recently I have been keeping a better record of what I wear, yeah, I do continue to ride on one idea for at east two days, ask me about efficiency of concepts :)
What can I say about this outfit, well I love my big beads, and my new pointer-finger-ring, oh wait readers, those are accessories, lets get back to the outfit, so yeah, it is a really simple recipe for an office outfit, color coordinated, "grown-up" colors (black, gray, beige, brown etc) and then a nice bold color center-piece, a jacket or a cardigan or a simple sweater, I felt more corporate, office-y yet unique and out-of-the-pack... and of course the beads, did I mention the beads? it is always good to revamp a simple look with some beads :)

Military Inn, Jackets Checked!

Posted by Picasa

I must admit to something, dear readers, blog surfers (should I refer to you as surfers? hi hi) I am obsessed with jackets, there is something ultra-superior-over-sweaters about them... those jackets, sihhah, more stylish, more mature, always elegant, so yeah, I have a weak spot for them. I don't have nearly enough, not to mention claiming that I have as many as I would like to. The reason for such deprivation is simple: jackets are always twice as much as sweaters, so I pass by those beautiful, super-sophisticated jackets hanging proudly on the store-best hangers, to eventually settle on a sweater or, if I am lucky and feeling even a bit more splurgy, a cardigan...but sometimes I snatch them jackets on sale, and then it is like Christmas, yupiii feelings inside and out.

Recently, I snatched on sale a military jacket, how are these on sale especially since the trend is in full swing and shall continue to bloom&boom, I do not know - clueless - but not wasting time to ask unnecessary questions, got me one. I can see it how calling it different names works, I could possibly name it: The Beatles jacket (remember St. Pepper lonely heart club band?) or circus jacket... but I would never thought of michael jackson, but on the day I wore it, I heard it the most, so let it be: Michael Jackson jacket... anyway, name as you will, such jacket is super cool, it is a piece of its own, and this style (christen as you please) is going to be BIIIIIIGGGGG, today I walked into an H&M they had at least 7 different versions of such jacket :) I wanted them all, but hello, this is not a rich woman holding the wallet, at least not yet, so...

I think this jacket can be worn with pretty much anything, here above, I am playing it safe. I decided to start it off with similar color accents (yellow) so with the under shirt and the scarf with yellowish, black and gray nicely combining all the pieces together) but it does not have to be as safe, couple days earlier I wore it with a purple dress and black tights. Military jackets I want to see you everywhere all ways possible!
